Metal Wrap Through (MWT) backcontact technology, the core of Trienergia's modules, guarantees more powerful and durable photovoltaic panels, significantly reducing the risk of breakage and microcracks.
In fact, the MWT backcontact technology provides for the presence of electrical contacts only on the back. As a result, the cells that make up the photovoltaic module are no longer soldered at the junctions or stressed by contact, but are applied to a conductive backsheet using a special electroconductive component that acts as a contact and connection for the positive and negative poles of the photovoltaic solar panel.
The use of the conductive backsheet in the cells allows the energy to be utilised across the entire surface area of the module to generate electricity, without necessarily being channelled into the limited surface area of the ribbon.

In MONOPERC MWT solar cells, the additional passivation layer compared to standard modules facilitates the trapping of light near the back surface, thereby optimising electron capture. This results in higher energy production in low irradiation conditions, giving customers a wider operating window for their photovoltaic system.
3% less shade and better utilisation of sunlight due to the lack of connection ribbons.
36 pathways on each MWT solar cell to efficiently transport electrons.
Each MWT solar cell operates individually. When cracks, breaks, or interconnections occur on one cell, the other cells remain functional and are not affected by the issue.
The absence of ribbons makes the module visually more homogenous, an important advantage especially in residential photovoltaic systems.
In 2023, we upgraded the Trienergia production line to allow the use of larger M6 cells (166.00x166.00mm) compared to the previous M4 cells (162.75x162.75mm). This upgrade increased the contact points of each cell from 61 to 66, resulting in higher energy production. The module dimensions have increased but remain smaller than those of the main competitors, thus maintaining compact modules that are well-positioned on the roof.
The annual efficiency loss, due to the "physiological" performance decline, with MWT technology significantly improves the initial degradation in the first year from -3.5% to -2% and reduces the annual degradation rate from -0.6% to -0.55% per year.
The absence of ribbons allows us to be even greener and use less than 2 grams of lead per module (ref. 60 cells), reducing lead consumption by almost 90% compared to a standard module. For environmentally conscious customers, this is an additional plus that will make them appreciate the choice of photovoltaics even more.
